It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
