Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
